Chattanooga's Downtown Outdoor Climbing Destination! Located next to the Tenneessee River in Coolidge Park!

The Walnut Wall is The Adventure Guild's own urban outdoor climbing alternative! Established on a 100 year old limestone tower supporting the Walnut Street Bridge, The Walnut Wall is a cooperative partnership with the Chattanooga City Parks and Recreation Department that opened in 1993. More than twelve years later, "The Wall" stands proudly as an anchor point of Chattanooga's Coolidge Park on the north shore of the Tennessee River (directly across from the TN Aquarium). The Wall is open seasonally to the general public and year round for groups on a reservation basis.

The Walnut Wall is the perfect in town challenge for both novice and experienced climbers. The Wall is 50 feet high and has 10 top ropes leading to as many as 30 distinct climbing routes ranging in difficulty from 5.3 to 5.11 (YDS). All equipment is provided! Simply show up during the hours of operation and climb!

Open Climbing:
The Walnut Wall is open to the general public each weekend during the following hours, through November:

Saturdays 1:00 - 9:00 PM (April - Labor Day)
Saturdays 1:00 - 7:00 PM (Labor Day - Thanksgiving)
Sundays 2:00 - 7:00 PM

The price for open climbing is as follows:

$5 for one climb
$10 three climbs per person
$20 per person for the entire day. The day pass includes re-entry privledges, so you can climb for awhile, stroll around the park, and then return to climb again later that day!

Please note: The Walnut Wall is an outdoor venue, and as such is subject to the weather. At times the Wall will not be open during the posted open times because rain or other weather has come through and made conditions unfavorable for climbing. Once the Wall is closed, it may not re-open the same day, even if the weather clears. We apologize ahead of time for any inconvenience this may cause.

Group Climbing:
For the past 12 years groups have been climbing The Walnut Wall for everything from Team and Community Building to birthday party thrills. The Walnut Wall is an ideal place to emphasize the challenges of any endeavor..."set a goal to reach the top, study the route to the top, execute the plan, give 100%, and celebrate the results". Along the way we encourage groups to support each other with cheers and ovations.

Group Reservations are for a 3 hour time block and can be scheduled at virtually any time. Based upon the size of the group, an appropriate number of Adventure Guild/Wall staff will supervise and assist your group. The Group and Party charge is a minimum of $200 which includes the first 10 climbers. Additional climbers are just $20 each.
